GetResponse vs ConvertKit (2021)

GetResponse vs ConvertKit

GetResponse and ConvertKit have been launched 15 years apart but still provide pretty much the same features. In fact, this is what makes the choice so difficult when choosing any software for your business. All tools seem similar when we look at their features, pricing, and even user reviews. The real difference is understood only when someone uses them for a significant period of time.

Now business owners don’t necessarily have the time for that. As a result, we try to help them choose the right software for their company based on our experience with all the tools that we have used over time.

This blog compares GetResponse and ConvertKit on the basis of six primary factors that matter the most. We will start with an introduction to both tools and end with the sole winner.

GetResponse

Launched in 1998 by Simon Grabowski, GetResponse is one of the oldest email marketing solutions. Currently they claim to be used by 350,000 customers in 183 countries.

ConvertKit

1. GetResponse vs ConvertKit: Form & Page Builder

Nobody likes to subscribe to a number of tools and switch between them over and over again while setting up their marketing campaigns. It is always better to have everything under one roof. As a result, almost all of the email marketing tools have added features like form and page building and sometimes even more.

GetResponse

GetResponse is one of the best tools if you are a fan of additional features. Not only does it provide amazing form and page building options, it also comes with many other unique and useful solutions.

ConvertKit

ConvertKit provides an average form and page building experience. It doesn’t have as many templates and customizations available. However, it is good enough for those having simpler needs.

Winner - GetResponse

GetResponse comes with more tools, more templates, and better customization as compared to ConvertKit. It will even beat some of the best tools available on the internet when it comes to form and page building.

2. GetResponse vs ConvertKit: Lead & Customer Management

Effectively managing your leads and customers is one of the most important aspects of online marketing. Or else you won’t have any idea of their current stage in your marketing funnel and as a result, you won’t be able to figure out the most relevant message to send to them.

GetResponse

GetResponse provides a pretty good system for managing your leads and customers. You can see past messages sent to each contact, add tags, notes and much more.

ConvertKit

ConvertKit has similar abilities when it comes to subscriber management. Everything about a lead is visible in a single glance – the forms they signed up on, the sequences and automations they are a part of, their past interaction, etc.

Winner - TIE

Both the tools have almost same features and capabilities. They might not be among the best CRMs out there but definitely help you send highly relevant and personalized messages that improves your conversion rate and ROI.

3. GetResponse vs ConvertKit: Campaigns and Automations

This is the core feature of email marketing tools. The feature for which businesses use them the most. And perhaps the comparison of which you came looking for.

GetResponse

GetResponse comes with a drag and drop email builder, ready to use templates and a visual automation builder. This is the perfect combination one needs in an email marketing solution.

ConvertKit

Since the target audience of ConvertKit includes bloggers and content creators, it doesn’t provide a drag and drop email builder as most of them do not need one. However, it does come with the visual automation builder.

Winner - GetResponse

Both tools provide a visual automation builder which is quite great but since ConvertKit doesn’t come with a drag and drag email builder, GetResponse wins this round.

4. GetResponse vs ConvertKit: Deliverability

Deliverability is not a feature of email marketing tools and maybe that’s why it gets ignored a lot of times. However, it is one of the most important factors to compare when choosing a solution for your business. If your emails are ending up in the spam or promotions, you are at a heavy loss.

Winner - ConvertKit

GetResponse is in the list of tools with lowest deliverability rates. ConvertKit is not very good either but it is still better than GetResponse. However, please keep in mind that deliverability depends on a lot of other factors as well and the winner here is decided based on research and experimentation.

5. GetResponse vs ConvertKit: Unique Features

Since the primary features of most email marketing tools are often quite similar, additional features are sometimes what make the difference in businesses choosing one over the other.

GetResponse

  • Webinars
  • ChatBot
  • Facebook and Google Ads
  • Website Builder
  • Surveys

ConvertKit

WordPress Plugin – Since the majority of ConvertKit’s users consist of bloggers and content creators, it provides a great WordPress plugin to make itself easier to use and implement.

Winner - GetResponse

GetResponse provides the most number of additional features among all specialized email marketing solutions. Moreover, they are pretty good as well.

6. GetResponse vs ConvertKit: Pricing

Oftentimes pricing gives the edge to one tool over its competitors. This is because a lot of solopreneurs and small business owners are fine with just an average tool if it helps them save a few bucks every month.

Winner - ConvertKit

ConvertKit starts for free whereas GetResponse charges $15 for the almost similar features. Moreover the higher plans of GetResponse are also expensive compared to those of ConvertKit.

GetResponse vs ConvertKit: Conclusion

Go with GetResponse:

If you need additional features offered by it like webinars, chatbot, surveys, etc. and are okay with paying a little higher price for the same.

Go with ConvertKit:

If you are a blogger/content creator and do not require features like drag and drop email builder, designer templates, webinars, etc. In that case, ConvertKit will save you a few bucks every month.

However tools like ActiveCampaign or Drip will still be a better choice than ConvertKit in the same scenario. They cost about the same but are the two best email marketing tools currently available on the internet.
